What is a Sunshine Fund?

A Sunshine Fund is a tribute fund set up in the name of a premature or sick baby or child. They enable families to donate to Bliss in a meaningful way, while also helping us to continue our vital work for other babies.

A Sunshine Fund doesn't cost anything to set up and you can pay in as much or as little as you like each year, plus they stay open as long as you want.

How do donations made to a Sunshine Fund help babies born premature or sick?

The donations made into your Sunshine Fund will enable Bliss to:

• provide the families of premature and sick babies with information and support
• work with health professionals to provide training and continually improve the standard of neonatal care
• enable life-changing research to help drive forward improvements in care
• campaign within the government and NHS to ensure the voices of babies born premature or sick babies are heard

How do I set up a Sunshine Fund?

From the homepage of the Sunshine Fund website, click on the Create a fund tab and follow the on-screen instructions.

Why do I need a JustGiving account to have a Sunshine Fund?

This website uses JustGiving to collect donations to your Sunshine Fund. You, your relatives and friends can also link other JustGiving fundraising event pages to your fund.

You can make offline donations to your fund by cheque, over the phone or by setting up a direct debit. To do this please call our Individual Giving Team on 020 7378 1122 or email fundraisingoperations@bliss.org.uk.

What should I do if I'd like to celebrate the life of more than one baby or child?

A Sunshine Fund can celebrate the life of more than one child. If you would like to celebrate the lives of two or more babies or children, when you set up a Sunshine Fund, simply include all of their names in the name of the fund.

For example: Your loved ones' names are Alex and Katie Mitchell, so you could name your fund 'The Alex and Katie Mitchell Sunshine Fund'.

Alternatively, you can set up separate Sunshine Fund pages for each of the babies or children whose lives you would like to celebrate. To do this, you will need to use a different email address when setting up each child’s fund page. Please call 020 7378 5740 or email supporters@bliss.org.uk to find out more.

How can I donate to a Sunshine Fund?

Use the 'Donate' button on your Sunshine Fund page to make a direct payment into your fund.

You can also donate to your fund by cheque, over the phone or by setting up a direct debit. To do this please call 020 7378 5740 or email supporters@bliss.org.uk.

 

A relative/friend is holding an event to raise money for my Sunshine Fund. How do I add their donations to the fund?

Your relative/friend will first need to create a new JustGiving fundraising event page. Having done so, if they click on the ‘Supporters’ button on your fund page and follow the on-screen instructions, they’ll be able to link their fundraising event page to your Sunshine Fund page. Any money that they raise for their event will be added to your Sunshine Fund total.

Can I raise money for my Sunshine Fund by taking part in an event?

Yes please! Having signed up for, or organised your own event, you will need to create a new JustGiving fundraising event page. Once you’ve done so, click on the ‘Supporters’ button on your fund page and follow the on-screen instructions. This will enable you to link your fundraising event page to your Sunshine Fund page. Any money that you raise for your event will be added to your Sunshine Fund total.

Can I use my fund to promote an event that I’ve organised, or am taking part in?

We'd love you to promote your fundraising for Bliss! Having signed up for, or organised your own event, you will need to create a new JustGiving fundraising event page. Once you’ve done so, click on the ‘Supporters’ button on your fund page and follow the on-screen instructions. This will enable you to link your fundraising event page to your Sunshine Fund page. That way your relatives and friends will be able to find out about your event.
